Perfume bottles date back to 1500 BC when they beautified the homes of the most affluent and noble.  These symbols of luxury contained essences that were designed to ward off bad spirits, worship the gods and disguise body odor.  The Egyptians were the first to introduce perfume into their culture and they were the first to embellish glass bottles as a method of storing this valued commodity.  It wasn't until the Middle Ages that metal and enamel were utilized in the production of storing perfume.  During the 19th century, bottle making arrived in a fury due to the European market and their interest in refining the way perfume was manufactured. Today these beautiful works of art have no rival.
